Holy Communion

HomeHoly Communion

Luke 22:19: "Do this in remembrance of me."

At West Croydon Seventh-day Adventist Church, Holy Communion is a sacred and meaningful time where we remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ—His body broken and His blood shed for the forgiveness of our sins. Whether you’re joining us in person or participating from home, we want you to be fully prepared to take part in this holy ordinance.

What is Communion?

Holy Communion, also known as the Lord’s Supper, is a symbolic act of obedience where believers partake of bread and grape juice, representing the body and blood of Christ. It’s a time of reflection, gratitude, and recommitment to Christ.
We celebrate Communion every quarter, typically during our worship service.

Preparing for Communion

If you’re worshipping with us online, you can still participate meaningfully from your home. Here’s how:

1. Spiritual Preparation

  • Spend time in prayer, confessing sins and seeking a heart that is open and thankful.

  • Reflect on Christ’s sacrifice and what it means for your life today.

  • If you’re joining as a family, consider having a brief devotion together before partaking.

2. Elements You'll Need

You’ll need the following items to participate:

  • Unleavened Bread (see our simple recipe below)

  • Pure Grape Juice (non-alcoholic)

If you are unable to prepare the exact elements, let your focus be on the meaning behind them, not just the form.
